I'm Tristan Bates
My name is Tristan Bates, I'm the Founder & Creative Director of T-REX MEDIA. I'm a filmmaker specializing in film & sports storytelling with a long history of leadership in my community.
With a background in narrative filmmaking — including writing and directing a feature film and producing multiple short films in Capilano University.
I recently graduated from Capilano University’s Motion Picture Arts Program. I’ve transitioned my cinematic foundation into sports media, working as the primary content creator for the Ridge Meadows Flames (PJHL) and as a photographer and live broadcast camera operator for the Langley Trappers.
My approach blends cinematic storytelling with the authenticity of live sport. I thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with athletes and team management to create content that resonates beyond the final buzzer.
I'm a consistent and passionate creative mind. I always aim high and dream big. I'm the type of person who'll be running around the sidelines with a camera, having fun editing a hype reel and who lives and breathes creativity and collaboration.
